Position Announcement: Research Associate II – Advanced Imaging Technologist in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences, Colorado State University
This full-time position is located at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital, in the Diagnostic Imaging Section, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The technologist is one of three research associates providing service to the clinical animal advanced imaging section (CT, MRI and PET/CT) while assisting with technological aspects of clinical animal MRI, computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET/CT) imaging. Support of animal imaging research projects is expected. This includes overseeing advanced imaging facility and equipment function, QA/QC, and applications training.
The technologist also has an important role in educating faculty, staff, and students in the proper and safe use of the MRI and CT/PET equipment and radiation safety, in conducting CT and PET-CT and nuclear medicine studies, and in uses of CT, PET/CT, and MRI for research.
This position will have on-call responsibilities for the delivery of weekend/holiday MRI examinations at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Candidates must have a Bachelor degree in a health, life science, or related field with foundation in independent research; Minimum of 3 years of experience with advanced imaging; Member in good standing and current ARRT certification; Good computing skills and familiarity with networking, PC-based database and spreadsheet programs, word processing and image viewing software.
Preference will be given to candidates with MRI ARRT certification. Post-primary ARRT certification in nuclear medicine and/or CT or PET/CT highly desired; Project management experience; Experience in working in a digital imaging, RIS/PACS environment; Demonstrated history of working well in a team environment; Strong communication skills, good personal interaction in a hospital setting at various levels (faculty, administration, staff, clinicians, and trainees); and experience with radiopharmaceutical handling and patient injection, radiation safety protocols and monitoring. Organization skills and detail oriented personality is highly desirable.
