The CT Department provides diagnostic CT procedures to a variety of patients in the emergency and trauma unit, surgical unit, critical care and inpatient units and will assist interventional radiology when needed. Exams performed include but not limited to stroke series, trauma, bleeds, cancer, abscesses and General Adult/PEDs.
The incumbent is responsible for coordination of the daily workflow and assist in the throughput of ER, In-patient and outpatient and providing for appropriate QC monitoring. This position has the authority to make technical decisions that will provide the best possible CT scans and administer IV contrast materials under the direction of the Radiologist.
This position must be proficient in the use of in-house CT scanning and contrast injecting
equipment. Equipment includes GE VCT 128, GE Lightspeed 16 slice and a GE Revolution 256 in the newly constructed CT Trauma room.
The major challenges to this position are related to advanced imaging for Trauma, Stroke, Code aorta, in-patient, outpatient and staying current with changes in the field of CT. Managing appropriate care prioritizations with rapidly changing volume demands and coordinating with the CT department on a daily basis as well as providing strategic planning input for the future direction of the department. The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and exam evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families. Excellent communication skills, ability to be flexible and function in a fast-changing environment and work under stress along with ability to maintain strict confidentiality is essential.
