Substitutes for the Technical Director of the cath. lab when absent, supervises the technical aspects of procedures thereby ensuring the proper use of the x-ray, hemodynamic, power injector, and ancillary equipment during all catheterization procedures.
Under the supervision and direction of the attending cardiologist using the geometry and x-per modules, positions the FD20 Xper C arm in the various projections necessary to produce optimal diagnostic images for a comprehensive and accurate diagnosis. A complete knowledge of abdominal, chest, neck, cardiac both structural and coronary anatomy is absolutely necessary to insure all necessary radiographic views are taken during the procedure. During the cineradiographic imaging of the heart and coronaries and under the direction and supervision of the attending physician power injects the coronary arteries and other structures of the heart using either the Medrad or Acist power contrast media injector. A thorough knowledge and familiarity of both machines are mandatory for patient safety and proper injection techniques.
Records the cardiac hemodynamic pressures, cardiac outputs, blood oximetry measurements during the procedure in the MacLab.
The following tasks require a comprehensive knowledge of cardiac hemodynamic pressures and congenital cardiac structural anomalies.
After the procedure is done the editing and deleting of the artifact and erroneously recorded waveforms must be performed manually. Utilizing this edited data then calculates utilizing the software tools of the MacLab the following:
Blood pressure, aortic, mitral, valve calculations, ie: valve area’s, gradients, cardiac output, and cardiac shunt measurements for diagnostic assessment and analysis by the attending cardiologist. When completed and confirmed by the attending physician the Maclab hemodynamic results report is authored, and exported into our EMR.
Assures that proper radiation safety practices and techniques are being carried out by the physician and the staff in the cath. lab.
Monitors and sustains the necessary surgical, and cath. lab supplies, vendor related devices and equipment, monitoring their expiration dates for the cath. Lab.
Maintains a current BCLS status by periodic re-certification.
Maintains in good standing the N.Y.S. Radiologic Technologist
Possession of a current valid license as a General Radiological Technologist issued by the State of New York. This license must be presented at the time of investigation to the appointing officer at the time of appointment interview. Appointees must maintain their license in order to retain the position of Supervising Radiographer; and, 2. Four years of experience as a Radiographer, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or equivalent institution.
