Staffed by eight Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (four hold dual registrations in Vascular ultrasound) this section contains eight Acuson ultrasound units and three Parks vascular units. A wide variety of procedures are performed, including abdomen, pelvic, OB/GYN, neonatal, biopsy, breast and vascular exams. The Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our Highsmith-Rainey, Health Pavilion North, and Diagnostic Center Outpatient facilities are staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All ultrasound studies are archived and interpreted online through our PACS Image Management System.
The Ultrasound Supervisor ensures all technologists (sonographers) within this section, as well as oneself, are fully competent to perform all sonographic procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of specified diseases or conditions. Serves as the resource person and senior technologist within this Section of the Radiology Department. ARRT Registered, graduate of an AMA approved Ultrasound program, RDMS or RVT. CPR Certified. Five years (5) experience as an Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer), to include Vascular Ultrasound. Must possess Supervisory Training or experience.
The Ultrasound Technologist is fully competent to perform all Sonographic Procedures for the diagnosis of specified diseases or conditions. New graduates may apply that are registered or registry eligible. But new graduates that are registry eligible must be registered by either the ARRT (Sonography), RVS, or RDMS within 12 months of their hire date.
