The Chief Medical Physicist performs functions and activities in the department as directed including brachytherapy, therapeutic procedures, equipment calibration, documentation, teaching, in-services, measurements, calculations, radiation safety, and all functions associated with the improvement of quality of care in the treatment of patients. Responsibilities include all aspects of radiation physics and treatment planning/dosimetry, including oversight of physicists and dosimetrists, and administrative duties for program compliance with State and NRC regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Masters Degree in Physics and two (2) years of radiation physics work. Must be Registry eligible with the State of Delaware with the expectation to be registered upon employment or shortly thereafter. Must have ABR and/or ABMP certification. Demonstrated expertise in the wide use of treatment planning system software, with focus in conventional radiation, 3D, and IMRT planning systems. Must have LDR brachytherapy experience. In addition, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics based computer software systems are required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate both written and oral. Must have flexibility and the ability to demonstrate good work ethics. Must be able to work independently. Must be customer service oriented. Must have knowledge of JC (Joint Commission) and NRC regulations & guidelines.
