The Medical Physicist shall provide services as assigned by the Chief of Medical Physics in furtherance of the university\u2019s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The Medical Physicist position is located in the coastal town of Astoria, Oregon at the newly built Columbia Memorial Hospital CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Care Center. The Department of Radiation Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a board-certified medical physicist for a faculty position, this appointee will join our team of currently 9 physicists and 6 dosimetrists. The physicist will play a significant role in management and performance of clinical physics duties. In addition, the Medical Physicist will contribute to the department\u2019s research and educational programs.
The Medical Physicist duties include:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Medical Physics, the appointee will provide technical expertise in the areas of patient treatment planning, therapy machine/radioactive sources calibration, radiation safety, and new technology research and implementation
Working in a coordinated effort with the physics team to develop the clinical, educational, and research objectives of the department
Educational responsibilities including developing and teaching medical and physics residents, graduate and undergraduate courses along with supervising MS and PhD students\u2019 research and dissertations
Working with equipment in the newly built CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Care Center e.g. 16- slice Phillips simulator with 4DCT (four-dimensional computed tomography) capability, Elekta Versa HD with Hexapod, Monaco and Pinnacle treatment planning systems and Mosaiq record and verify treatment modalities include 3D-CRT, IMRT, IGRT and VMAT. SBRT and HDR are under consideration
